Jar Spell for Anxiety

Anxiety has a way of making everything feel urgent and overwhelming. This jar spell is a tactile, grounding practice for sealing away worry and reclaiming your calm — one layer at a time.

Jar spells work because they give your hands something to do while your intention does the work. When anxiety is running high, the act of layering, sealing, and setting aside is itself a form of magic — a physical declaration that you are choosing to contain what feels uncontainable.

What you'll need: a small jar with a lid, black salt or regular salt, dried lavender, dried chamomile, a small piece of black tourmaline or obsidian (optional), a slip of paper and a pen, and a black or blue candle to seal it.

Start by writing your anxiety on the slip of paper. Be specific. Name the worry, the fear, the spiral. Fold the paper away from you (fold it in half, then fold the top half away from you again) — this symbolizes pushing the energy away.

Layer your jar: salt first (for protection and purification), then the folded paper, then lavender (for calm), then chamomile (for peace and soothing), then the crystal if you have one. As you add each layer, say what it represents: 'This salt protects me. This lavender calms me. This chamomile soothes me.'

Put the lid on the jar. Light your candle and drip wax over the lid to seal it, saying: 'What is sealed here has no power over me. I am grounded. I am calm. I am held.' Let the wax cool completely.

Keep the jar somewhere out of sight — a drawer, a closet shelf, under your bed. When you feel the anxiety rising again, you can hold the jar and remember: you already sealed it. You already chose peace. That choice is still valid.
